Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Breaks Ground on Performing Arts Center

The Board of Education of the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District broke ground on its 300 seat state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center. The SMJUHSD Performing Arts Center will be located at Pioneer Valley High School and will be available to Santa Maria High School and Righetti High School. The theater is being built by Vernon Edwards Contractors, Inc., under the Lease-Leaseback construction methodology available to California school districts under Section 17401 of the Education Code. The theater is expected to be completed in January of 2017.

About Yuri Calderon

Yuri Calderon possesses more than two decades of experience as a legal professional and currently serves as chief operating officer and general counsel of Caldwell Flores Winters, Inc., a consulting firm based in California with practice areas related to public schools and community colleges. In this position, Yuri Calderon provides consulting services, including facilities planning, financial advisory services, and a variety of other consulting services for publicly funded schools in California.

Apart from conducting business and providing counsel in the service of Caldwell Flores Winters, Inc., Mr. Calderon has a vested interest in the civic health of his community and devotes time and resources to a number of philanthropic and civic organizations. At present, he serves on the board of directors for the International Communities Foundation and served as a member of the management board of the South Bay YMCA in San Diego from 2008 to 2010. Earlier in his career, Yuri Calderon was on the Board of Directors of the the Houston, Texas-based Family Service Center and dedicated. Yuri Calderon has also served on a number of other boards including the Texas Association of School Boards’ Council of School Attorneys.
